October Art Market

I'll have with me some soaps in new fragrances including Grandma's Apple Pie, Enchanting Jasmine and Winter Wonderland. Also, back by popular demand, and already almost sold out - I have just 4 Halloween Ducky soaps available. That's totally crazy since I just made them today!
Also, for my loyal readers on Facebook, find the Bodyluxe by Shawna fan site - I'll be posting coupon codes for online ordering and posting local specials as well as we get closer to Black Friday and Christmas. Once I get 100 fans on Facebook I'm going to do a random drawing for an Old Fashioned Bar Soap Sampler. Announce it to all of your friends and like the site today, the sooner you do, the sooner I'll give away some awesome soaps!

Hopefully this will work properly and we'll have orders flying out again through the web store.. feel free to order for family and friends, I'll add in a complimentary card reading that the gift was chosen for the receiver and list your name. :)

Fall is Falling All Around Us

Well, its that time of year. The temperatures aren't quite scorching here on the sunny South Plains any longer, and heck, I've even been able to open the doors and windows for a nice breeze a few times.
That means we're headed into Fall. Autumn. The season before Winter. I love this time of year, and all of the scents and memories that it invokes. Everything from jumping in piles of crunchy leaves to the first snow to the smell of a fire in the fireplace.
Especially for fall I have a few new fragrances soaped up already and a few yet to come. Grandma's Apple Pie leads off the list, and boy will it make you drool. Next up is Enchanting Jasmine and finally for this update, Winter Wonderland. Start thinking about your up and coming holiday plans and parties, and make sure to have a few great soaps handy to give as gifts to your party hosts and hostesses, or contact me about a custom soap log to cut and give to everyone you know as holiday gifts.

Happy Birthday Bodyluxe by Shawna!

Believe it or not, these adorable cupcakes are made of handmade soap. Hand poured and decorated with the same love (and recipe!) that goes into the Old Fashioned Bar Soap, these soap cupcakes were created in honor of Bodyluxe by Shawna's business birthday.
The soap cupcakes are not made from a premade soap base, but from my own Old Fashioned Bar Soap recipe. Even the frosting and sprinkles are handmade soap!
Take home a cupcake today - its quite the conversation piece. Just don't leave it in the kitchen or someone may come out blowing bubbles after looking for an afternoon snack. :P

If you'd like to have custom soap cupcakes made for your next party or event, please contact Shawna by email: bodyluxe@gmail.com for prices and customization options.

Soap is an Art Form
I just wanted to take a moment to share with you some thoughts I've been having lately about soaping and how my business is run.
To me, my soap is an art form. I put loving care in creating the recipes from scratch - balancing the oils using my knowledge of chemistry to make a finished product that is great for your skin type. I don't just mix a bunch of stuff into a pot and dump it into a mold and hope for the best. I choose the best colors for the fragrance, swirl or pattern it to what I see in my mind's eye, just like an artist would paint on a canvas or sculpt a lump of clay.
I will not be out there competing with other soap makers at the markets and fairs. As much as I'd love to see my soap in everyone's household and loved by everyone who uses it, I will never mass market, and I will also never treat the art market as though as it is a flea market. I will never annoy a friend or potential consumer of my products as "just another sale" and I will never annoy you until you purchase a bar of my soap.
It is not my goal to underbid, outsell or otherwise inhibit anyone else who enjoys the arts as I do. We're in this together and I make soap because it makes me happy. I sell soap simply because I know it makes others happy... (and because my shelves would be way too full otherwise).
Thanks for listening.
